Loads (Inputs) a maplet into memory. After entering "i" in the Main Menu it asks for the maplet name. Can also substitute "r" or "RECENT" to load the previously loaded landmark.
Example Display
Main Menu: Q 0123O IUCRSG NVAMBX DEPL FZH? i >i Input 6-character landmark name.[Q] EE0001 -0.48481 0.53724 -0.55314 0.60718 gc slope.pgm Check for more images? y[n] n Include a single image? y[n] n Current landmark = EE0001 SCALE = 0.000100 QSZ = 49 Lat/Lon/Rad = -6.800 264.090 0.266 Region = EE gc LMRK_DISPLAY0.pgm gc LMRK_DISPLAY1.pgm check display Main Menu: Q 0123O IUCRSG NVAMBX DEPL FZH?
Example Break Down:
Check for more images? y[n] - Most times when you load a landmark you will not be adding new images and can say "n" to this question. If you wish to add images see below the line break.
Include a single image? y[n] - Most times you will want to load all images that have been added to the landmark and will use the default "n". If you select "y" it will ask you to input a picture name. This author has never used the "y" option. lithos.f says: If the user does not check for more images, the program asks whether selected images should be added by name. If this option is chosen the user enters the picture name and then either specifies the pixel/line location of the maplet center in the image or the program will estimate it. If the user has entered an image in this way, he will be asked whether he wants to enter another one.
If you said "y" to the question "Check for more images? y[n]" you will get this menu
Check for more images? y[n] y Enter fractional width (0=center). .5 Reject invisibles? y[n] n PICTLIST.TXT P3T11L2H0205 580.20 189.39 ... Enter fractional width (0=center). - This asks the user to input the fraction of the image that can be seen in the landmark. Typically we use 0.5.
Reject invisibles? y[n] - This question is referring to whether you want to include images where portions of the landmark will be blocked by some object in the front. For example if most of the loaded landmark is of a crater, but immediately south of the crater is a large boulder, then all images take from the south will have a boulder in the way and this boulder will be obscuring the crater. Typically we will say "n" to include as many images as possible; the image that would have been excluded are usually dealt with once they will no longer align properly.
The program searches one of four files files to identify images to add:
PICTLIST.TXT is the list of all images.
PICTLISTR.TXT is a restricted PICTLIST created by the user.
PICTLISTX.TXT is an extended pictlist containing additional data to speed up processing.
PICTLISTRX.TXT is the extended version of PICTLISTR.
The program searches in the order 4,2,3,1 and uses the first found.
Typical Use
Most times you will simply want to load a maplet without adding images. In this case you will, from the Main Menu, just use...
i
(Landmark)
n
n
If you do want to add images to the landmark you will enter, from the Main Menu,
i
