''' 4. Align with gradient''' - Like auto-align (Option 0) except that it uses the gradients normal to the sun direction instead of the template. This would be used in the same situation as "Align with picture" and sometimes works better. | ''' 4. Align with gradient''' - Like auto-align (Option 0) except that it uses the gradients normal to the sun direction instead of the template. Like option 3, this will "turn off" all images that are not the selected image, and they will have to be added back before building a template. |
This option is used to all align the images in a landmark. After alignment is complete you can then build a template (Find template) and build topography (Find heights).
Example Display:
Main Menu: Q 0123O IUCRSG NVAMBX DEPL FZH? 1 >1 0. Auto align 1. Individual shift 2. Global shift 3. Align with picture 4. Align with gradient q. Quit
Example broken down:
0. Auto align - Aligns images to the template.
Auto align example:
k picnm lambda phi cvg nlmk 1 P3T11M2H0217 1.158 0.000 0.871 846 2 P3T11M2H0218 1.138 0.000 0.871 857 3 P3T11M2H0219 1.373 0.000 0.881 853 4 P3T11M2H0220 1.063 0.000 0.881 871 5 P3T11M2H0222 1.067 0.000 0.942 856 6 P3T11M2H0223 1.378 0.000 1.000 858 7 P3T11M2H0224 1.061 0.000 1.000 875 8 P3T11M2H0225 1.166 0.000 0.928 848 9 P3T11M2H0226 1.135 0.000 0.929 866 10 P3T11M2H0227 1.105 0.000 0.850 854 11 P3T11M2H0228 1.361 0.000 0.851 868 12 P3T11M2H0229 1.091 0.000 0.965 849 13 P3T11M2H0231 1.100 0.000 1.000 855 14 P3T11M2H0232 1.348 0.000 1.000 872 gc LMRK_DISPLAY0.pgm gc LMRK_DISPLAY1.pgm check display enter spacing
k - Image number
picnm - Image(picture) file name
lambda - See Find template
phi - See Find template
cvg - Coverage; fraction of image that is found in the landmark.
nlmk - Number of landmarks that use this image (can also think of it as each landmark that has been added to the image)
enter spacing - Enter a number between 1 and 5. The lower the number, the fewer number of pixels LITHOS is allowed to shift the image. After entering this number, a display is output to the screen indicating the number of pixels moved in both x and y, and the new correlation factor for the new image location.
new spacing? y[n] - Can choose a new number if you don't like the results. "Enter" will default to "no."
0. continue. (default) - Continue with current positions. "Enter" will default to this selection.
1. halve shifts. - only moved the image half the distance spacing calculated (can help with images that want to bounce between two locations)
2. quarter shifts. - similar to above, but only shifts one quarter the distance.
Update landmark pixel locations? y[n] - "y" will save the new position and return to the Main Menu, "n" will discard the changes and return to the Main Menu. "Enter" will default to "n."
1. Individual shift - Shifts an individual image. First enter in the Image number (i.e. "k" value) that you want to shift, then the number of pixels to shift (first the x distance with positive moving to the right, followed by the y distance with positive moving down). Then you can enter in the next Image number (i.e. "k" value) and proceed as before. When you are finished with the individual shifts, enter "0" to quit to the Main Menu.
2. Global shift - Shifts all images the specified amount. Enter the x and y pixel shifts.
Update vector? (y/n) - Not sure (I always just say "yes")
3. Align with picture - The user will select one image, and then SPC will align all the other images to it. Enter spacing as in "Option 0" above. This is used sometimes when auto-align isn't working and you don't want to align pictures by hand. This doesn't always work because of differing illumination conditions. Not that this will move the reference image to position #1, and will flag or "turn off" all the other images. You will need to perform a 0-a from the Main Menu to add them all back.
4. Align with gradient - Like auto-align (Option 0) except that it uses the gradients normal to the sun direction instead of the template. This would be used in the same situation as "Align with picture" and sometimes works better. Like option 3, this will "turn off" all images that are not the selected image, and they will have to be added back before building a template.
q. Quit - Quit to the Main Menu.
